messed up

Christina Strigas

you mess up my head with poems

fuck up my life with songs

read my thoughts before

i grasp them. squeeze them

into verses. wet my skin

with some type of glory

from within. i think i have

lost the way to the rotary,

that fork in the road i

evade, that street that

blocks me from driving.

he kisses me in the dark,

turns on the lights

to see the shimmer

of my skin. he is in love

again, with every

part of my soul that glistens.

he exits and enters

like a king. i danced

just for him, twirled

curtsied and sang

just for him. and he

said he loved

my voice, when that

wasn’t what i wanted

him to notice at all.

he’s distracted with

soul mates. i’m exploding

on paper.

locked the door

and set my

soul on fire

with words.

no one here gets out…

      • Good morning George, Yes, I know what you mean. Seems we’re always running to stand still. My mind is on U2, going to see them tonight and I am so hyped. Been blasting their music night and day! Been driving my own kids crazy as they roll their eyes at me – “there she goes again!” lol
Wishing you an amazing week as well with your kiddies and family. xx

      • Wow, that sounds like fun. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a huge crowd at a concert, probably back in the 80s, 2nd wife and I went to a Jennifer Rush concert in Saarbruecken, Germany. It was taped and some live tracks released throughout Europe, thankfully I didn’t fall off my chair and make a Nut out of myself on tape/CD/DVD. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
ENJOY YOURSELF, DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE KIDS.
My Kids felt the same way when I dragged them to Soccer games in Europe, geez, “Dad, do we have to go. Yes, your Mom needs a break and you need to understand Soccer if we are going to live in Europe. Maybe later you’ll play yourself.” Later when American Football came to Europe, their Mom dragged them to watch me play with German teams and a player-advisor of sorts and translator of formations. Peter Pan didn’t want to grow up either, I understand that better now))))))))))
Wishing you a great day and wonderful rest of week.

      • I was “talking” to someone the other day on Tumblr and I mentioned Woodstock. She asked “What Stock?”
        I suddenly felt so old
        until
        I realized
        autocorrect had typed
        What Stock instead.
Now I’m not only feeling Old
        and Mute
        but halfway
        blind to boot.

      • That’s hilarious! The important thing is we are young at heart and music knows no age. You listen to it with your soul, wrinkles no wrinkles who cares. Youth is wasted on the young. lol
        thanks! I aim to enjoy.

      • And old age is not for Wusses or the Faint at heart))))))))) I find it so much easier to laugh at myself these days, even without a mirror. and I don’t get upset, I just take notes and share
        ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) <3(๑̀ ͜ʖ๑́)<3.

      • I definitely embrace my PeterPan inner soul. I once promised my Kids I’d start acting like an Adult at 70, they’re still laughing. I heard something about “Hell freezing over….” I prefer the life I’m enjoying with Kiddies, indeed…… Kiddies don’t hold back, they say what comes to mind, even when the Priest is visiting for lunch. haha!!
