Update on George/Georgie 10/21/2016
Wishing you all a Happy Friday and upcoming weekend. After much thought and consideration and conversations with multiple medical professionals from Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins, we have decided to make some changes to Dad’s treatment. We know his brain is working, how else would he be able to interact with us using Morse code? What’s confusing is that even after removing sedation, he still isn’t fully awake and there’s no physical or medical reason for remaining in a coma-like state. So we’ve been approached by neurologists with extensive experience in dealing with traumatic brain injuries in veterans. When all normal treatments fail to produce a needed result, you start trying something else. I won’t go into a bunch of technical explanations and clarifications. We figured Dad would do anything for us if our roles were reversed, so here goes.
We wanted to thank you in advance for all your unwavering support and the strength you give us with all your thoughts, concerns and prayers of love and compassion. Sorry it’s taken so long for this update. Life doesn’t always go by our plans, so we just take what happens and do the very best we can as we go along. Thank you again.
Sarah (DaughterInLaw)
You know you have my Love, prayers and support. Please take care of you. I am throwing myself into means to keep me occupied so I can survive this. I’m never further then my cell however and will again try to find those who know George to get on over here. ❤

Hi Sarah, lets keep the hopes up, and I pray for the man. He really made me laugh and vice versa I would think if not there wouldn´t have been so many back and forth comments. So keep it up, I know he´s a tough person, a fighter, as well as you and your familly. Take care, all the best for George and for all your familly.
He does have a long distance “familly” in the wordpress community. He did make a difference to me at least and to many others as you can see.
My prayers are with George his “clan”.
Take care Sarah, nice meeting you by the way.

Charly, thanks for all you do to share with us about Dad and all your positive thoughts and wishes and support for all of us. Yes, we’ve seen the “family” he’s built within Tumblr, Twitter, WordPress and Instagram. We have a hard enough time keeping up and he does it on his own, he amazes us and humbles us at the same time. We will be so glad to turn over the reins as soon as possible.
A pleasure to have “met” you, Charly. I can understand the connection you and Dad have, conservative military background and distaste for government that thinks they know better how to distribute our hard earned monies.
Wishing you a wonderful day and week.

We’re trying to keep updates when anything worth mentioning changes on Dad’s condition or treatment. Dad humbles us with his energy, it’s the least we can do for him and all his friends. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. I posted an update earlier. Dad is awake her and there now. Opening eyes and blinking yes and no answers is great improvement. We are greatly relieved and optimistic for full recovery.

Thank you so much, prayers and wishes are helping us deal with everything daily and continuing to push forward to be there for Dad when he awakes and recovers at whatever pace he needs. He lets us know he hears us even if he can’t say anything, sometimes a facial expression, sometimes tapping out short answers and occasionally he tries to talk. Dr thinks maybe he has forgotten he’s mute and still wants to say something. We’re prepared to deal with memory loss with lots of visual aids and audio&videos of all of us together. We won’t be forgotten or ignored, we’ve been around Dad too long. thanks for everything you do to support Dad and us.

TY, we’re the ones that are blessed to have him in our lives, to ground us, catch us when we’ve fallen, and never allowed any of us to ever give up on ourselves or one another inside our Clan. He’s our glue and mentor, not just my Father-in-law and my childrens’ Opa/Grandpa. We’re glad to be able to help him in any way.

Irene,
thank you so much. We are pacing ourselves for a marathon, not a sprint, so we can be there for Dad and each other no matter how long his full recovery takes. But from all his friends across social media, we know we aren’t alone in this journey. the love and support we’re experienced so far motivates us to keep fighting like Dad is until success is achieved.

You are most welcomed, and thank you for all your support. thankfully we are not a small Clan. Dad would feel worried if we all were just sitting around hovering over him, so we try not to overwhelm him or any of us. Now the ICU people can’t keep his Angels away with any excuses now. They’re a part of him, more now than ever.

Thank you so very much for your support and prayers.. Dad is a lover of peoples and a fighter for others and now himself as we’ve seen. He has built quite a following and family across social media by just being himself and supporting others as much as he can. His energy and the distance of his reach humbles us and amazes us how he gets everything done and still devote so much to our family here at home without missing a beat.

TY, we are optimistic that our prayers will be answered, even if we don’t fully understand them. Dad taught us that sometimes we need to learn that our wants aren’t always our needs. We keep praying for discernment to know the difference.

OH wow AmyRose said there was an update on your sweet FIL. I took my daughter to the Mayo in March and we ended up finding a neurologist to help. She too had loss of mobility and no reason medically that they could find for it. We finally found a neuro here in Tulsa and he diagnosed her with PTSD and fibermyalgia. What’s odd is that her legs started working again after all the testing and things he did. Then one of her docs retested her for MS and she has MS now. It took a year to get a diagnosis. We are traveling to a geneticist Nov. 4 to deal with the sudden onset of blindness that happened one year ago. Gosh the human body is an amazing thing. I pray that George’s body get the rest it needs and all the nerves and systems work together to make him well again. I’m praying for him and all of you! Blessings to you! MichelleMarie

I am so glad you’ve found some answers, if not all. Not knowing is worse than not having any information with which to plan some sort of treatment and recovery. If you don’t mind, we will add you to our list of people needing prayers and strength to deal with medical issues. One of Dad’s Sisters has MS and diabetes, but won’t give up either. She has Dad’s stubborn and will to live streak.
We wish you and your family strength and are sending prayers and love to you all. Most of all we wish you to find answers that bring you peace in your heart and mind. We’ve learned over the years, miracles still happen and impossible is a human word for “we can only accept what we understand with our limited brain.” We’ll continue to pray knowing our understanding is limited, but our God isn’t.
